Workshop on Earth System and Planetary Habitability - 报告议程

The Workshop on Earth System and Planetary Habitability will take place in person from December 13 to 17, 2026, at the Faculty Club, Stanford University. The workshop aims to provide a focused platform for in-depth exchange among researchers working at the intersection of Earth system science and planetary habitability.​ The program will address fundamental questions concerning the formation, evolution, and long-term maintenance of habitable environments. Topics will include climate system evolution, interactions among Earth’s spheres, biogeochemical cycles, planetary evolution, and comparative planetology. The workshop will also highlight research approaches such as remote sensing, numerical modeling, data assimilation, and the analysis of deep-space exploration data.​ Particular attention will be given to key Earth system processes, criteria for assessing planetary habitability, and the integration of observations and models across spatial and temporal scales. By bringing together perspectives from Earth science, planetary science, environmental science, and data science, the workshop seeks to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration.​ Designed as a small-scale, high-intensity workshop, the event will feature invited presentations, focused discussions, and informal exchanges.
